*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- Manic Street Preachers A companion piece to and Following the recent exciting #KYE22 announcement - which also signalled the end of The Ultra Vivid Lament campaign - coupled with the fact that the Manic Street Preachers themselves, are now intermittently uploading their own official and lovingly themed Playlists to streaming services for our listening pleasure. I thought that it would be fun to revisit a related, vintage editorial... In April 2020, during the first COVID-19 lockdown, I had an idea for a social media post which R*E*P*E*A*T's editor, Rosey, very kindly advertised via his Facebook and Twitter accounts. This idea, was to simply ask MSP Fans: "If you had to put together a career-spanning, 'Great Lost Singles' compilation (picking only 1 song from each studio album), and then, as a companion-piece to this record, curate a brand new 'Hidden Gems' Double LP of b-sides / rarities as a follow-up to Lipstick Traces (excluding any songs already included on that album), which tracks would you choose and what would you title both long players?" At the time, numerous Manics devotees very considerately responded with their preferences - and now, several years later, I have revised, expanded and refreshed both of my personal selections in order to incorporate some superb songs from the TUVL era, along with a few other notable additions. R*E*P*E*A*T would of course be more than delighted, if this feature encourages you to either newly create - or overhaul - your own personalised Manic Street Preachers 'Great Lost Singles' and 'Hidden Gems' collections, then share these with fellow fans / the MSP community...
