This was as nice suprise in my letter box one day after work; a 7” vinyl which crackles with energy, attitude and ideas. Continental Liason's cut'n'past sleeve notes show all the right influences (Gang of Four, alcohol, Betty Blue, Buzzcocks, Manics, Miss Black America) but the grooves prove that they've added a pinch of something a bit different, perhaps courtesy of their investigation of the sounds made by computers and other machines to complement the conventional rock'nroll format. Series of Events is hooked around a booming driving drum beat and scuzzy guitar riff, while Secession is darker, more brooding affair.

 

Put together they make for an eye and ear grabbing package which anyone would be a little excited to receive in the post.
