On 20th January 2009 Barack Obama will be inaugurated as the 44th President of the United States of America.
Also, as you may be aware, on 20th January 2009 Nicky Wire of the Manic Street Preachers will turn 40. To commiserate/commemorate and generally acknowledge this event we have a plan whereby we attempt to obtain and compile birthday messages and the like both from fans of the band, and bands/sportsmen/writers and generally anyone he admires to send to him as an epic birthday card of sorts.
Anyway we thought as one of the few fanzines which featured the manics still left and such like, it could be worth asking whether you would like to contribute, or if could pass the message on to anyone you think might be interested.
I guess what we are asking people is: • Does anyone want to contribute? In terms of what it is if it can be handmade all the better and aside from that we wanted to do the card with A3 pages - so anything up to that and reasonably flat should work. • Does anyone have any connections or can think of anyone it might be worth asking? At the moment we've only got as far as drawing up a list of people to ask (sports player, authors, poets, artists, musicians etc.) and sending letters of vaguely hoping its to the right place.
