Press Release Big Badger Recording Co to release debut download /
mail-order single from The Resistance, June 28th 2006 Their live shows are spectacular - a shock of light and noise, causing
a stir across their hometown of Cambridge where they are described as
"the most exciting new band to come out of the city in aeons"
(Rhythm Online). On stage, the band stand uniformed and uncommunicative,
letting their wall of sound do the talking - a full-on yet haunting
electro onslaught, a noise which has the kind of resonance most bands
struggle to attain with a chorus. That, and the intelligently crafted
films which are projected behind them, work to underline the point that
this is not just cleverly pretty 'soundscape' music to stare open mouthed,
stoned and obedient at, but that it also has something it wants to say.
"Sounding a little like Suicide might have if they substituted feedback for vocals, a little like the Dr Who theme tune, the Resistance's sound is absolutely beautiful in an eerie sort of way. Spine tingling electro with a human face of rapt concentration/fascination. What a good idea." (Drowned in Sound) Their 3 track CD will be launched in Cambridge with a gig at The Portland Arms on May 20th (with Autons and The Vichy Government) and nationwide on June 28th at The Soul Tree. It will be available for £2 mail order from the R*E*P*E*A*T address (cheques to R Rose please) or for free download from www.bigbadgerrecordingco.co.uk
