Shed Your Tears and Walk Away Jez Lewis returns to his hometown of Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, to film the tragic underbelly of a town considered a bohemian idyll. Having attended a number of funerals for old friends, Lewis wanted to make a film asking why people of his generation are killing themselves through drink and drugs. Lewis portrays the harsh reality of life while also revealing a group of smart, articulate, funny and occasionally heroic people who have been consigned to the scrapheap. It provides an insight into the lives of those who fall through the social net. Shed Your Tears and Walk Away Review from www.socialistworker.co.uk |
