SHLUG Split The Grin EP

This stinks like pure shit, it hits you in the face and doesn’t stop hitting you in the face like a furious Kangaroo tryna nick your goods and gubbins. The starting track is foul, aggressive, and the texture changes shit you up proper. Noisy, metallic, rough, tight, and uge.

The second song took me back to Slipknot’s first album, disgusting, couldn’t pick my bottom lip up for a bit. Drop down singy bit is lovely, bass tone is class, and going back in is absolutely ridiculous. This is giving me KEN Mode levels of elbow throwing.
Not many people can do noise/metal like this, these smelly boys have been crafting their sound for a while now and you can tell, each song on this flows so well into one another, oddly a very easy listen which is rare to achieve especially in this genre. Another note - each song pretty much has the force of a beached Whale crash landing on some poor cunt’s sandcastle.

The mix on this slaps, suits the sound greatly, Ellis’s voice on this EP sounds proper strong, tasteful use of texture all throughout, and a great amount of raw emotion dropped in. Tom Reese electrified the recording, Ethan leathered the mix, and Minas fed this fucker until its trousers were bursting.

So many great riffs, the drums are mental throughout and the bass is tasteful and just holds the chaos together while bringing a level of character that you don’t come across a lot. Some of the guitar parts are really pretty, most are not.. but that just makes them even nicer to listen to when they come in.

Every song got my leg going, this release is so up my street and I’m glad it exists, well done mushes. Make sure you check this out, check them out as they’re bat shit live, and keep on rocking fuckos, their EP is out on the 15th of May on CD, 12" and digitally, get on it.
